The Saint James Consolation Ministry assists the bereaved in the journey from grief to hope, providing spiritual guidance, education, and emotional support for those who have experienced the death of a loved one. Members reach out with compassion during the painful and lonely time that follows a significant loss. Facilitators and the bereaved meet in the Spring for eight consecutive weeks to discuss the grieving process and promote understanding and comfort. The bereaved are encouraged to share their stories and to fill their broken hearts with hope. The goal of the Consolation Ministry is to ensure that no parishioner experiences grief alone.
Training is available year round through the Diocese of Metuchen or the Archdiocese of Newark at a minimal cost for anyone interested in becoming a bereavement facilitator.
