Two disciples met the Risen Christ on the road to Emmaus as they were sharing their thoughts and ideas about all that had taken place during the days leading to the Resurrection, in which they expressed hope. They left their encounter with Jesus renewed, energized, and ready to spread the Word and live the Gospel message more completely than ever before. (For the complete story, see Luke 24:13-49)
The people of Saint James Church are blessed with many and varied opportunities to emulate this experience through the ministries, community prayer, organizations and special events hosted by the parish. Just as the two disciples in Luke’s Gospel traveled on a spiritual journey, bolstered by each other, our fellow parishioners, through these parish-sponsored groups, stand ready to support and assist each other as we all grow in our relationships with Jesus Christ.
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago. — Ephesians 2:10
