Sister Marlene Weitzel, SCC was born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. She attended Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools in the Diocese of Scranton and after graduation from Saint Ann’s Academy, Wilkes-Barre, she entered the Sisters of Christian Charity in Mendham. Following her profession as a Sister of Charity, she studied at Marillac College in St. Louis, Missouri
After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and her Elementary School Certification as Principal, she ministered in Catholic Schools in the dioceses of Scranton, Paterson, Harrisburg and New York as teacher and principal. She received her Master’s Degree from Villanova University and was later assigned as DRE and Social Concerns Ministries in a few parishes.
Sister Marlene was also in SCC community leadership roles as a provincial councilor for 17 years and Director of Education for the Community. She served on various committees while in community leadership.
Sister Marlene has now been assigned by her community to be Pastoral Associate at Saint James Parish, Basking Ridge, assuming the role formerly filled by Sister Esther Falzone.
