We congratulate you on your engagement and share in your joy as you begin to plan your wedding, realizing the importance of the Sacrament of Matrimony and its abundant graces. Registered parishioners or the children of registered parishioners may contact the parish office at least one year in advance of the desired wedding date to secure a date and begin the marriage preparation process. Call 908-766-0888, ext. 3, submit the request through the interactive form below, or submit the information sheet above by email to administration@saintjamesbr.org.
Weddings are generally held in the chapel and can be scheduled on Saturdays at 11:00 a. m. or 3:00 p. m., or on Friday evenings.
Marriage preparation consists of three meetings with a priest or deacon, the Foccus Exam, and a meeting with our music ministry. In addition, your Pre-Cana requirement may be fulfilled at the diocesan or parish level, or you may attend an Engaged Encounter weekend. The couple will be required to request updated baptismal certificates from the churches in which they were baptized, issued no more than six months before the wedding. Copies of the original certificates are not acceptable.
The clergy and parish staff are happy to help you meet any special requirements for Matrimony in the Catholic Church, whether it be permission to marry someone of another faith, or the need to petition for an annulment from a previous marriage.
