Founded at Saint James in 1948, the Confraternity of the Rosary (The Rosary Altar Society) is grounded in devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and has as its purpose to secure her patronage by the recitation of the Rosary for the spiritual benefit of members worldwide. The Rosary Altar Society is also a service organization, devoted to the care of the Lord’s sacred altars, Mass linens and clergy vestments.
Members gather each Monday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel to pray the Rosary. Special gatherings with guest speakers or performances are held on the first Monday following the first Sunday of each month at 7:00 pm in the chapel. The Society provides Rosary prayer pamphlets to parishioners and coordinates the annual May Crowning.
Membership in the Rosary Altar Society is open to all adult women and men of the parish. New members are inducted into the Society each October with a beautiful candle and blessing of roses ceremony.
